Alexandra Verschuuren (1997) graduated as a dancer and choreographer at ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de kunsten in 2020. Born in Ohio, USA, she moved to Belgium at a young age where she discovered her interest in contemporary dance. She studied at de!Kunsthumaniora Hedendaagse Dans in Antwerp where she worked with many great artists, including Anton Lachky, Iris Bouche, Filip Van Huffel and many more.
Afterwards, in ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de kunsten, Arnhem, she focused on developing her artistic qualities as a performer and choreographer. During her studies, she created several pieces and performed in various festivals, including SPRING Utrecht, Nederlandse Dansdagen and CaDance Festival. Individually, she has been offered opportunities to work with Cristina Planas Leitao and Cinzia Scoglionero, among others. Together with the collective Strange Strangers, she worked at Dansateliers, Fameus, performed in theaters in Belgium and the Netherlands, and performed at festivals in Spain: Festival 10 Sentidos, DanzaTTack, Masdanza, and Auditorio de Tenerife.
Currently, she is working and collaborating in the collective Strange Strangers, conducting a research installation around privacy within a performance, and developing her teacher’s side through taking on various teaching opportunities. As a teacher, Alexandra is known for her clear and simple instruction and tendency to trigger curiosity in her students.
