Marijke studeerde in 2008 af van de ArtEZ Dansacademie in Arnhem, richting uitvoerend - profiel dansmaker. In 2009 richtte ze haar eigen gezelschap Teddy Shouldn’t Smoke op waarmee ze als choreografe dansvoorstellingen maakt. Als docent richt Marijke zich graag op improvisatie en compositie omdat ze daar zelf als choreografe veel mee bezig is.
